Clay Modeling
Modeling in clay as step in the carving process accomplishes several goals. First off it allows you to work out all the forms of the sculpture while having the benefit of adding material back. Secondly, a rubber mold is made and a hard plaster casting is poured. This casting is then used as a model for measurements directly while carving in stone or wood. Of course with the mold made, you can go directly to a wax model for casting in Bronze.
